They settled in Carterton, Wellington where they lived at Peachgrove, a 300 acre Farm on Taratahi Plain. 6 of their children were born in Derbyshire (Son William died before they left England) and 3 in New Zealand. Most of the family are buried in The Oates family Cemetery on a corner of their land on Somerset Road, Carterton.1,2,3
